Job Summary

Role Overview
As a PIP Disability Assessor, you will complete functional assessments for individuals claiming Personal Independence Payment (PIP). Assessments are carried out using a biopsychosocial approach, either face‑to‑face at the Aylesbury assessment centre or remotely via telephone/video, depending on service need.
You will review medical evidence, conduct structured consultations, and produce clear, defensible reports that support fair and accurate benefit decisions.
This is a hybrid role, linked to Sunley House, Aylesbury, with home working available following successful completion of training.
What you’ll do
- Conduct functional assessments for PIP claimants
- Review medical records and supporting clinical evidence
- Complete detailed, evidence‑based assessment reports
- Apply strong clinical reasoning across a wide range of conditions
- Manage your own caseload within agreed timescales
- Work autonomously with ongoing clinical support and audit feedback
What you’ll need
- HCPC registration as a Paramedic (essential)
- Minimum 12 months post‑registration clinical experience
- Strong communication and report‑writing skills
- Confidence using IT systems
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
Previous assessor experience is not required – full training is provided.
Training & Support
- Full‑time, fully paid training (minimum 9 weeks, may extend if required)
- Structured induction covering legislation, assessment framework and report writing
- Ongoing audit, mentoring and clinical coaching
- Protected CPD time to support HCPC re‑registration
Paramedics from emergency, ambulance and community backgrounds consistently succeed in this role following training.
